As we all are aware, agriculture plays a vital role in India’s economy. Around 54.6% of the population is engaged in agriculture and allied activities. Given the importance of the Sector, Government of India has taken various steps across various subdomains of the sector for its overall and sustainable development.

National Institute of Plant Health Management (NIPHM) is the result of such initiatives by the Government. It is established with the objectives of human resource development in plant protection technology, plant quarantine and bio-security with special emphasis on crop oriented Integrated Pest Management approaches. It also, trains personnel in analysis of pesticide formulations and pesticide residues for monitoring the residue levels in the agricultural produce.

It is mandated to function as a nodal agency for exchange of knowledge on plant protection technology, gain overall insight into Plant Protection and Food Security Measures and Policies together with operational problems and constraints. NIPHM, is also conducting programme oriented research in the area of Plant Protection, Integrated Pest Management, Pesticide Management, Plant Quarantine and Pesticide delivery systems and residues. We, at NIPHM have developed need based field programmes for continuous development of human resources for policy makers, senior and middle level functionaries for executing plant protection programmes and using training of trainer approaches to ensure maximum reach. Agricultural professionals from various states of the country and also from various other countries participate in the training programmes for learning on best agricultural practices, bio-security & food safety. NIPHM has a vibrant and diverse campus with world class labs which are ISO certified and maintains high standards in terms of analysis methodologies.

In recent year, we have entered into collaboration with State Governments and other Organizations of repute to extend knowledge transfer and to provide best support to the agricultural fraternity.

NIPHM with its strong technical force, eminent academicians and knowledge pool is committed to its goals and objectives and shall strive further with more vigor and commitment for furthering the cause of Government of India’s agricultural missions, by empowering every farmer and extension functionary in Plant Health Management
